Announcing the After iGEM Representative for the Techsauce Global Summit 2019 in Thailand.
The event is the biggest annual tech conference in the ASEAN Region organized by Techsauce Thailand and HUBBA Thailand and will be taking place from 19th June to 20th June at Central World, Bangkok, Thailand.
Cheewin Kittikunapong, from the iGEM Edinburgh OG 2018 team, will be representing IGEM Foundation and After IGEM. He will share his experience at the iGEM Giant Jamboree and how he sees developing economies within Asia can benefit from a more collaborative and innovative environment.
He will be giving a keynote talk on the topic "Synthetic Biology: Engineering and Democratization of Bio in the Context of Southeast Asia".
Cheewin had the following to say about Synthetic Biology
"Synthetic biology is an emerging field within the biosciences and biotechnology, which applies engineering principles to the design, build, test and learn of biological parts, devices, and systems. As an interdisciplinary field increasingly accelerated by the latest developments in high-throughput technologies and lowered costs of DNA sequencing and synthesis, synthetic biology is primed to engage stakeholders globally in developing sustainable applications for the most pressing issues around the world. This session will discuss how a revolution within the field will lead to democratization and increasing accessibility of biotechnology in not only developed but also developing countries and explore how innovations in synthetic biology will fuel the future bio-economy."
He will also be a part of the panel discussion on "Deep Tech for Deep Impact – Solving the World’s Toughest Challenges" along with SzeKi Sim (Head of Brand-SGInnovate), Adebayo Alonge (CEO-RxAll, Inc) and Attawut Kumkrong (Partnerships Manager-Open Innovation SCG Chemicals) .
